John Makinson the CEO of Penguin books,one of the largest publishing houses in the world, demonstrated an eBook format designed for Ipad. This is the first format of its kind for Apple Ipad after a news delivery application was launched by a famous newspaer last week. Speaking in London Mr Makinson said that the IPad is the ‘first real opportunity’ for a paid distribution model, which will allow them to offers more than just eBooks to their customers.
The advanced features offered by Ipad present many opportunities. The demo showed live chat between readers of a book and and how children can draw and paint along with reading. A book with lots of charts and graphs allow users to zoom in on particular parts and play animations explaining their working.
Makinson also announced that the company was planning to develop eBook content as applications for the iBook store, which will be online eBook platform for the iPad tablet device.

Although Ipad made a humble entry compared to Apple’s previous offering Iphone and people wasted no time in writing it off and comparing it to a women sanitary product. We think as things settle down and more unique applications are created for Ipad, it will definitely prove to be a worthy member of Apple family.
