Ipad threatened by Google Chrome

Posted in Competition to Apple Ipad | Posted by appleipad |

Amidst all the devices that are competing with Apple Ipad the Nexus One from google is the only serious contender that we can think of. Because of high prices, the tablet sector has been a bit of laggard in the past but the sudden increase in competition will surely this. With prices more affordable Ipad may face very tough competition from other PC vendors

Apple Ipad Vs Google Chrome Tablet

After the launch of its ‘Superphone’ called Nexus One, Google showcased its tablet PC based on its popular Chrome operating system. To the worry of Apple, it is said that Google Chrome will offer features currently not available in Apple Ipad. Google Tablet is based on online operating system which can produce more revolutionary applications than Apples’s Ipad. We discuss some of those features here:

1) Web Based Applications
As discussed above Google tablet is based on online operating system and Ipad is based on Apples Ipone operating system. This can be better in several cases.Googles operating system couldn’t compete with Mac OS X or or Windows 7 but for tablets it can offer to match the outstanding multitouch experience of Apple Ipad. Moreover one can avail features of cloud computing and can store data offsite.

2) Multitasking

The biggest reason Google’s tablet scores over Apple’s Ipad is multi tasking, currently missing in Ipad. It is reported that you cannot switch over to Safari to read the news, if you are visiting pages in Ipad. Multitasking makes Goole’s tablet more user friendly and convenient

Other than these factors the operating used in goole tablet can run on various devices unlike Apples operating system which is exclusive to Apple Ipad. Even on price factor $499 seems to be a great price but buyers may get attracted to Google because of Ipads lack of 3G and a small hard drive

Upcoming Ipad Competitors

Posted in Competition to Apple Ipad | Posted by appleipad |

With a military of Tablets against Apple Ipad the journey of this new device from Apple will not be easy. In the recent consumer electronic show, tablets from various companies were displayed. Apple ipad may have first movers advantage but competition will be tough and clear winner will only be decided after a long battle.

Here are some of the alternatives that have been doing the rounds of various comsumer electric shows all across the world

Hp slate

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer showed off this HP tablet prototype very briefly at CES this year. It wasn’t the Apple iPad thunder-stealing moment predicted by the media, but it is one of many indications that the tablet form-factor is about to become practically ubiquitous.

This particular HP slate will run Windows 7, setting it apart from the field of tablets running Android you’ll be seeing on the rest of this list.

Dell Streak

dell slate
During its CES 2010 keynote, Dell talked about working on multiple “upcoming slates,” including one prototype it showed off, which is currently called the Streak. This particular model is only 5-inches, though, which puts it less in the direct path of the iPad and makes it more akin to the existing line of mobile internet devices (MIDs) like the Archos series of Internet tablets. Not much else is known yet about the Streak, or what other kinds of tablets Dell might be cooking up, but Engadget did snag some hands-on photos of the device.

Notion Ink Adam

While techies were debating whether Apple Ipad is worth buying or not, a company in India launched its own competitior to Apple Ipad. Already called an apple killer “to grab its 2 seconds to fame of course” this tablet has been launched in Hyderabad in southern India. The tablet looks really cool and will cost around 300$. Positioned at the similar category as Ipad,Adam currently runs on Android 2.1, and two versions are planned, one with the PixelQI screen, and one with a normal LCD backlit display. I know, nobody is holding its breath for its launch but here is a small comparison between Ipad and Adam from India.

MSI Android Tablet

MSI ANDROID TABLET

You will have to Wait for it: another android running tablet prototype  powered by the Tegra 2, this time from MSI.we found it “a bit thicker and heavier than we’d like,” but on the plus side its 10-inch screen is “plenty responsive.”

ICD Vega

Guys in UK watch out this device as this is headed straight towards you before year end. This Seattle based company has tied up with T mobile. with a larger than usual 15 inch screen you will surely love this.

Google and HTC

It cant get bigger than this

This one is sadly of the purely rumor variety, but it’s worth mentioning for its potentially game-changing effects. Like it did with the Nexus One, if Google were to take a direct hand in developing a tablet computing device with a trusted partner, it could be a serious contender in the newly emerging tablet wars.

The cited report says the Google Tablet has already been in development for the past 19 months. HTC is a plausible logical choice for the trusted partner as well, given its existing relationship with Google and the Android operating system. Still, with nothing yet official on the books, the Google Tablet is the most speculative entrant on this list for now.
